Neovim: How to get variable type hinting?
You need to ensure that the version of GHC you're using works with HLS, I've been bitten by this a few times when I'm not paying attention when upgrading GHC. I use mason and haven't had any issues getting HLS to work with it, well, rather, getting it to work took a little bit but now it's been working flawlessly since. You can glance at my config for LSP here if you want.

null-ls issues
The other answers are now wrong with the 0.7 release, using the resolved_capabilities table is now deprecated. I personally moved to using lukas-reineke/lsp-format.nvim together with null-ls. You can see the change in my dotfiles if you want to. I had some weird formatting behaviour with rustfmt and async formatting, so I changed the lsp-format.nvim setup to be require("lsp-format").setup({ sync = true }).

Nvim Lsp Installer - Neovim Lua From Scratch #22
I'm not OP, but here is my setup for Rust/Typescript/Lua/Deno with null-ls and autoformatting. I've also had a bunch of problems getting everything working together, but this setup finally works. You also need to look at the ’lsp.lua’ file for keybindings and such setups for LSP, but the linked file is the guts of my setup.
