Also, it has a profile to have recreational routes with a car. • Navigating alongside a (bike) relation?

  In the newest version on Android, you can tap on a route, and then "download" it as a gpx. Then you can navigate along that gpx file. OsmAnd does add a property "this road belongs to a cycle relation" in the routing engine. When cycle routing is set to prefer small roads, and you pick a few via points along the route, then it does seem to usually stick to cycling routes. This also means it's relatively straightforward to edit the routing.xml to create a switch for "navigate along bicycle routes as much as possible". • Will there ever be an option to set navigation routes to avoid roads over a certain speed?

  Hey, I really commend you for trying all this stuff out! I saw you getting some progress on the OpenStreetMap reddit as well. It shouldn't be needed to have a routed phone. Assuming Android (I have no idea about the iOS version, sorry), you can download the file at https://github.com/osmandapp/OsmAnd-resources/blob/master/routing/routing.xml, change the name, make some edits, and then import it into OsmAnd (IIRC by "importing" in the routing profile manager). There's two presentations about how to use this xml here https://github.com/pietervdvn/pietervdvn.github.io/tree/master/Slideshows. Mind you they are a little dated, at that time it wasn't possible to have an extra xml file, you needed to edit the file in your android directly.

  Yeah, I did some of that as well with OsmAnd xml's. Some fun profiles here :https://github.com/pietervdvn/pietervdvn.github.io/blob/master/routing_radical_hiking.xml Doing "weird" routes like this does make it more likely to stumble upon errors in the osm data. I hope you discovered you can report them, even within the OsmAnd app.

  Assuming Android, go to Settings, and tap on the little button next to the current viewing profile. Scroll down to the managament of these, then create a new pedestrian profile, e.g. "Hiking". Now download https://github.com/pietervdvn/pietervdvn.github.io/raw/master/routing_radical_hiking.xml to your phone. Go the settings of your new profile, choose Navigation settings, then navigation type. Scroll all the way down and tap "Import routing file". Choose the XML file you just downloaded. Choose the "pedestrian" routing from that file (there should be a few new options now, labeled 'rouditng_radical_hiking.xlk" and then a name.). Almost there! Now, when you go to Route parameters, you should have a new option, called "Strongly prefer paths". Use that to get crazy routing along paths!
