Ever wondered what the 100,000th Fibonacci number is?
At least in Nim you can, I was able to get up to an n of ~40k using this code https://github.com/Iapetus-11/lear-nim-g/blob/main/fibonacciHashmapBig.nim
I'm learning Nim and thought that this would be a cool thing to do since Nim is faster than any programming language I've learned so far. Here's the code if you're interested.
Our implementations probably vary, also my PC is about 6 years old. I did however, based of code from u/ggrogg, make an implementation that uses matrices and is very fast. I was able to calculate the 100,000th Fibonacci number in .03 seconds. https://github.com/Iapetus-11/lear-nim-g/blob/main/fibonacciMatrix.nim
That's really cool, I just ported that code to Nim and I was able to calculate the 100,000th Fibonacci number in just .03 seconds!
