rasbery pi 3b
I have a 3b and used a combination of this https://github.com/orangetruth/foundryvtt-raspberry-pi/blob/main/README.md and this https://www.reddit.com/r/FoundryVTT/comments/vvibsu/selfhosted_foundry_vtt_on_raspberry_pi_no_port/

Quick Questions
Self-hosting on a raspberry pi is relatively affordable and easy, and avoids having to pay a recurring subscription to anyone (though raspberry pis are in short supply right now). Here's a guide I wrote up.
-
Price vs. trouble when self-hosting?
I've had a great experience overall self-hosting. Lots of guides out there - here are the steps I followed (including a port forwarding guide). Make sure you get an SSD for the raspberry pi, rather than an SD card.
-
How easy is it to use two computers?
Definitely this. You can either pay to host it somewhere (like The Forge) or host it yourself on a Raspberry Pi (guide here). Then you can access it as a player or GM from anywhere.

Raspberry Pi setup issues / questions
Hard to know exactly what's gone wrong, but these are steps I followed to get Foundry running on my raspberry pi with Docker, Nginx, Duckdns and Certbot. Hope this helps!

Self-hosting behind nginx and docker - port already in use
I'm trying to setup Bitwarden on a raspberry pi i'm already using as a server, and I'm running into predictable port conflict problems I just don't know how to sort out with nginx. I followed this guide to host a FoundryVTT instance behind nginx successfully https://github.com/orangetruth/foundryvtt-raspberry-pi/blob/main/README.md , and I can access that instance by going to my.hostname.com. I'd like to set up bitwarden on something like my.hostname.com:9001 or something but I just don't know nginx well enough to know what to do. Any ideas what I should do after following that guide? Thank you SO much.

Wrote up a little overview about why I decided to go with Foundry
Nice writeup and welcome to the community! Here's my guide on how to get FoundryVTT running on a raspberry pi once you decide to go that route. Docker makes it really easy to run multiple instances if you have multiple licenses.
