  Hey, friends. So, I was messing around with YouTube captions and the YouTube Data API and I noticed that their captions are timestamped. With this in mind, I thought it would be fun to try and see if I could make a drinking game out of any YouTube video. With the timestamped captions, I thought I could check if a chosen word appears at the video's current playback time and alert the user if so. Well, it worked... surprisingly well! The only problem was that some videos, mostly songs, don't have captions or are poorly transcribed. This is where OpenAI's whisper comes in handy. What I do in the app is download the audio from the youtube video, then send it to whisper. I ask for the 'verbose_json' format as a response so that I get timestamps and can calculate the moments at which the word occurs... and boom!
