Last year's all-video version is at: https://gitlab.com/stanchfield-android-development-2021-refresh/android-development (I'm reusing many vids in the new version, but I'm trying out a new text-only approach for some of the early content at https://androidbyexample.com/)
  • Android Dev Courses

I just updated my Android course for JHU last fall. You can see the videos and code (available free) at https://gitlab.com/stanchfield-android-development-2021-refresh/android-development I cover Kotlin "by osmosis" (all of the content is in Kotlin and I explain what it's doing as I write it, assuming you already know Java). There's also a Kotlin primer module to get you started.

Hi - I just finished updating my free course materials for Android using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. You can see them at https://gitlab.com/stanchfield-android-development-2021-refresh/android-development. Note that I assume you're already familiar with Java when I talk about Kotlin.

  • Learning Jetpack Compose - is it ok or over-engineered?
    2 projects | /r/androiddev | 29 Sep 2021
I've just started re-creating videos for my Android course for Johns Hopkins, updating to teach Compose. If you're interested, you can see the content at https://gitlab.com/stanchfield-android-development-2021-refresh/android-development. (I've only completed through week 5 so far. Note that I have a Kotlin primer in there, but for the most part, my students learn Kotlin by seeing it in use during the videos, which are mostly me writing code and explaining it as I do so)
