I did it in Bash a few years ago, and these days sometimes do a single task in Bash if it's well suited. I learned a ton when I tried everything in pure Bash, so I can highly recommend doing it.
It's a super solid learning project. The most time-efficent learning experience I've had so far really. This is also my first year doing it and I'll try to hop on board some of the other coding events soon. I'm rewriting all my BASH solutions to Nim as well and eventually I'll upload both.
