There are endless resources online which warn about the petty crime situation in Morocco. You really can't do any research on visiting Morocco without coming across warnings about the sorts of incidents you've described. Google "Travel Safety in Morocco' and the first page is full of sites which basically tell you that if you go to Morocco, this is what you'll get. The USA and Australian governments have traveller advice web sites in which they warn of the likelihood that travellers will be faced with the sorts of situations you are describing. I suspect you are British, and www.gov.uk has a similar page with similar advice.
