How can I hand off a website to a client that has no coding experience?

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/webdev

Our great sponsors
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • october

Self-hosted CMS platform based on the Laravel PHP Framework.

  • The problem isn't the CMS, it's the developer, if you know how to code you should be able to use it without making stupid things. Take a look at October: https://octobercms.com

  • WordPress

WordPress, Git-ified. This repository is just a mirror of the WordPress subversion repository. Please do not send pull requests. Submit pull requests to https://github.com/WordPress/wordpress-develop and patches to https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ instead.

  • Wordpress is fine. If you do that, make you start at wordpress.org, not .com. You should learn how to make a Theme. The main part would be cutting up your HTML into header, footer and various page templates. ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) is a plugin you can use to easily add fields for data and say associate them with specific page templates that display that data. Wordpress is a bit messy and inconsistent but is also free and pretty easy.

  • InfluxDB

Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale. Get real-time insights from all types of time series data with InfluxDB. Ingest, query, and analyze billions of data points in real-time with unbounded cardinality.

  • CouchCMS

    Simple Open-Source CMS for designers

  • Take your existing static (HTML/CSS/JS) design and retrofit CouchCMS into it.
