Technically speaking do comments and whitespaces slow down performance since Python is interpreted rather than compiled?

  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • Nim

Nim is a statically typed compiled systems programming language. It combines successful concepts from mature languages like Python, Ada and Modula. Its design focuses on efficiency, expressiveness, and elegance (in that order of priority).

  • Unless you rely on Python's extensive ecosystem for something you might want to check out Nim. It has a Python-like syntax but compiles down to fast C code[1] (or C++, or even JS). It can be both extremely high level (higher than Python due to having true syntax macros like Lisp[2]) and pretty low level, you can trivially use C libraries, embed C code directly if need be. However the con is that there doesn't exist 10 000 000 000 tutorials and articles and packages for it like there does with the business-lucrative Python.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.
