  • AutoEq

Automatic headphone equalization from frequency responses (by iwalton3)

  • Here is a super budget setup I have. I use $5 Panasonic RP-HJE120 or RP-HJE125 with equalizer APO to correct the frequency behavior using autoEq from https://github.com/iwalton3/AutoEq/tree/master/results_ief_with_bass. I prefer In-ear Neutral target over Harman for whatever reason. Then I do some tweaking for Bass and Treble with appropriate reverb depending on situation using free VST: https://www.meldaproduction.com/MConvolutionEZ. And since I want surround. I use Dolby Atmos for headphones. You can use Windows Sonic for free or something like HeSuvi for eqAPO. On top of that for those 2.0 and 5.1 sound sources, I use upmixing using: https://sourceforge.net/projects/stereo-to-7-1-converter/ with rounded 3D scene. for 5.1 to 7.1 is somewhat unnecessary but if you are a nerd like me you can use: https://github.com/Dogway/emulation-random/blob/master/EqualizerAPO/Surround/Dolby_Digital_5.1_(7.1_augmented).txt.txt). Honestly, for the price and as a daily beater I can roll around in bed with and sometimes break, I love it. I do have more expensive earbuds/sets but honestly after all this, I only break those out for special occasions.
