    • You must have a really good studio camera setup. I have used phone camera images flipped and aligned using gimp to reverse engineer a few boards like this one that was cleaned up to look nice. I usually use the vias in the board to do my alignment. No matter how hard I try to align the images the lens distortions make it impossible to align all the vias around the edges AND make the board flat and dimensionally accurate. Like, here is a better shot of the same board with what I was actually working with to retrace. I end up distorting the PCB a whole lot because I need the front and back images to align well.
