Best is subjective and I'm biased (being the lead dev of the HPM version,https://github.com/Capitanloco6/Divergences-HPM ), but I'd say this is the most polished one. A lot of emphasis in the early days of the project was in improving perfirmance and fixing and polishing the old content, so it has the least issues of any DoD branch. Since then we have started to have major content additions with each patch: the Elbian Confederarion, the Ottoman Empire, Ethiopia, the Caliphate, Venice, Greece, etc. The good old lore is kept for the most part except for Iran, which has been redone from scratch and is now one of the most content-heavy regions in the entire mod.
