I agree. I've considered writing plugins in something like https://github.com/teal-language/tl for that reason. I strongly prefer statically typed programming languages. I'm a little hesitant to say that any specific choice of programming language is a 'pro' for the end user, especially if it requires another spinning up another runtime. I mean, node or whatever is probably light enough, but it feels antithetical to vim's ethos, to me.
