    • I've also had to setup a minecraft server for me and my kids a while ago. For some time now, I wished the server would autostart when someone connects, to save on resources.

    By pure coincidence, I stumbled upon a plugin for PaperMC [1] which together with a proxy server allows exactly that! Now my server stops when nobody is using it so I can save some RAM on my old machine.

    I'm not sure how they did it, but it also allowed me to use the same minecraft account for me and my kids while the server is in online mode. This way we could enable our kids to play with their friends while they all share a single account.
