BOLT: Basis of Lightning Technology (Lightning Network Specifications)

  • I guess I mean that the BOLT specifications are important for the LN to stay interoperable, robust, and decentralized. LND is fantastic, full stop. I prefer it. But if you look at Keysend, it was never spec'd. Loop, Pool, and Aperture are proprietary. I don't know, I'm probably being a bit dramatic, but there's this little hint in me that says income stream and protectionism are things Lightning Labs will get further into. I don't want to run something I come to view as a "company node". What set me off was their stablecoin ambitions on Lightning which they bragged about at the Bitcoin Conference which I didn't like. They push this much further, and there will be backlash, just like with mining and pools in the early-mid BTC days. 🤷‍♂️
