It depends on your privacy goals and objectives. For example, if you are simply trying to get rid of Google but don't mind other "big tech" companies, you can use OneDrive, Dropbox, etc. If you are not against big tech generally but simply want more privacy, you can still use these cloud providers but encrypt all files (including file names) before uploading to cloud, by using tools such as Cryptomator or RClone. If you are seeking optimal level of privacy and to cut ties with big tech, then self-hosting is the way to go (something like Nexcloud), especially if you are tech-savvy.
