Ansible container image definitions meant for ansible-test and Execution Environments (by ansible-community)
Pros: - Motivation for developers to create new collections which can become a part of Ansible package ("so popular and important in IT world", etc). - Motivation to create content satisfying the collection requirements. - Motivation to maintain included collections to avoid kicking them out from the package "I can't show off with my collection any more..:(" - ...(suggest yours)
There is also the option to create your own 'meta' collection if you don't want people to deal with requirements file, basically a collection that just states deficiencies (see my 'ansible' equivalent acd collection and play that builds it https://github.com/bcoca/acd/). If you tweak it to have all the required collections in files/ subdir you can even make it a 'complete' tarball. I'm not even going to cover having your own mirror or private galaxy, except to note that it is also possible.
Yes, in fact I've tested an execution environment that installs the ansible package: https://github.com/ansible-community/images/tree/main/execution-environments
