  • Thank you. Regarding your home lab setup, you are still thinking in the pre containter days. Nowadays all you need to catch up to speed is set up minikube in your own server, and play around with kubernetes which is free. There is also a free version of openshift if you are into that, which will teach you about Linux command line stuff in the process of learning that. Don't bother with the traditional VMware and networking stuff - that stuff is going out of the door soon, or it's not edgy anymore. You don't need to contribute to open source, but seems like you can be very good at doing app sec, which is integrate security while coding. Check out https://snyk.io/, they offer a bunch of classes in their portal for this kind of stuff. This is one of the things that I am learning at work as of today.
