1) The wallets are open source. A light wallet will follow and there are some community projects developing browser based wallets. They will all utilize the basic libraries like Jellyfish and Whale, accessing the Ocean API - That's the ecosystem provided by DeFiChain itself. If you want to go fully paranoid you can just run a standalone full node (https://github.com/DeFiCh/ain) and use the CLI. You can't get more basic than that.
