Hi OP! Welcome to the r/HomeKit side ;) there are a couple tricks to deal with this. But my personal favorite is to use r/Homebridge and a plugin to create virtual occupancy sensors called homebridge-occupancy-delay. This will let you create a virtual occupancy sensor that has a delay. It also resets that timer when triggered again. So, the goal is to tie the motion sensor to its virtual switch. When motion is detected you turn on, when not detected, you turn off. The Hue sensors have a timeout of about 10 seconds of no motion. So, leveraging that, you an get multiple triggers thereby extending the time the sensor stays occupied. Then, when the occupancy sensor detects no occupancy, have it turn off the bulbs (not the accent).
Second, the folks on r/Homebridge as well as its developers suggest NOT buying a HOOBS box. Its not as actively maintained, and its not any simpler than the official install these days. the Pi image for example takes seconds to run after you image the SD card and the macOS install is VERY simple so there really isnt any need. Plus, its not as maintained or supported by its own developers. Here is the page for it :) https://homebridge.io
