Congrats reddit. The state of the app is making me go a non official one.

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/beta

Our great sponsors
  • WorkOS - The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS
  • InfluxDB - Power Real-Time Data Analytics at Scale
  • SaaSHub - Software Alternatives and Reviews
  • RedReader

An unofficial open source Android app for Reddit.

  • RedReader: https://github.com/QuantumBadger/RedReader very, very lightweight. superfast, and i've basically had no issues with this guy. Open source. Highly recommended by me.

  • Infinity-For-Reddit

    A Reddit client for Android

  • Infinity: https://github.com/Docile-Alligator/Infinity-For-Reddit follows material design, but implements it in a very beautiful way. I've ran into some small issues, and is very elegant and good looking. Open-source, aswell.

  • WorkOS

The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. The APIs are flexible and easy-to-use, supporting authentication, user identity, and complex enterprise features like SSO and SCIM provisioning.

  • Slide

Slide is an open-source, ad-free Reddit browser for Android.

  • Slide: https://github.com/Haptic-Apps/Slide follows material design, and has good gestures. I've ran into some small issues, but nothing as bad as what i've found on the vanilla client. Also open-source, if that's your thing

  • beam

Beam: the open source Reddit client for iOS (by awkward)

  • Beam: https://github.com/awkward/beam Very elegant, open source client for iOS. Probably one of the most polished alternatives i've used, highly recommended. Requires build from source, as it has been discontinued.

  • Slide-iOS

A powerful new way to Reddit on iOS.

  • Slide (iOS): https://github.com/Haptic-Apps/Slide-iOS (DL: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/slide-for-reddit/id1260626828) While it has the same name as Slide for Android, and has the same development team behind it, it is a very different client. It shares the same feature set, but is much more elegant, and I think it just flat out looks better than its Android version. Still prefer beam, but that was discontinued. This client is once again, open source.

  • troddit

A web client for Reddit with authenticated logins and a variety of browsing options

  • yeah, libreddit is awesome. however, you can't comment on it, so if thats important to you, i might consider using troddit instead. note that if you use firefox, you might have to disable enhanced tracking protection for the site if you use "Strict" as firefox will attempt to block reddit.com from troddit.com

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
