  • I highly recommend 中州韻輸入法引擎, an input engine that supports many Chinese (and non-Chinese) input methods. I only use Pinyin and Jyutping with it, but I'm sure there are ways to input Shanghainese phonetically too. An easy way to hand-write characters with your keyboard (also supported by this engine) is 五筆畫 (different from 五筆): see here for a quick overview.

  • I didnt know this method. It looks very interesting! http://www.miniapps.hk/g6code/ I found a RIME repo for it, but it looks like it has to be installed manually: https://github.com/cyrus0880/rime-t9stroke It looks like an obvious method to try first.
