I ask because this reminds I used to know a guy that spent months learning to code GB in assembly, eventually releasing a port of 2048. Despite having my finger on the pulse of homebrew projects, translations, etc, I can't think of any modern releases for Game Boy... just NES, Genesis, the usual. Wondering if it's indeed rare or maybe I haven't paid close enough attention!
This is the github community to start https://github.com/gbdev/awesome-gbdev I would recommend you start first with gbsutdio, you can achive something like that that with the new update and is easy to use.
