A fan of the game reverse engineered the format of the GSI-File, which is a file type associated with "Temple of Elemental Evil" and "Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura" save files. You can find his work on GitHub and it greatly helped me in understanding what's going on there. To my knowledge, these are the only games, that use this format. A potential sequel, "Arcanum: Journey to the Centre of Arcanum" would have used Valve's Source Engine, which is at least documented.
