At Codelessly, we're building a design to code converter that converts Figma designs into working app and website code. For those that don't know, Figma is a popular design tool. In order to achieve our target goal of 99% conversion accuracy, we realized that we needed to recreate Figma and implement the Figma API spec. Therein lies the problem, recreating Figma requires building a canvas rendering framework.
Would love to see this! It gets "trotted out" because no one knows how to do this right now, and the flutter team is not exactly filling us in with their plan :D https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/46789
And of course the fact that Figma, Miro, etc. are actually running in the browser (IIRC Figma is written in C++ and cross compiled with emscripten, at least it was in 2017) and aren't written with Flutter is an indicator that Flutter also has competition here. Here's a WebGL based GUI framework, for example. (And unlike Flutter, it has a built-in tree view and built-in context menus, just saying.)
