I use a Raspberry Pi to airplay audio to my vintage system. Decided to wrap part of the Pi’s aluminum case to make it match the rest of the setup ;)

Build a single or multi-room streamer for an existing audio device using a Raspberry Pi! Supports Bluetooth, Airplay and Spotify Connect

  • To get the pi to stream audio from your phone: I used an application called Balena Sound running BalenaOS. Basically for most raspberry pi projects, you're going to use your computer to write some sort of OS and/or application onto a microSD card, pop it into the pi, and then for most simple projects you're pretty much up and running. There are a few different sound applications for raspberry pi that you may want to look into, but what I used is an application called Balena Sound. I followed their getting started guide to get everything set up on the OS and app side. You don't have to write code on a command line or anything like that. You're just going to download a file and write it onto your SD card using an application called Balena Etcher. I think this is a pretty good first pi project if you've never done anything with a raspberry pi before.
