They also say it's cheap, but while 4000€ might be little for industry or academia, it is probably not insignificant amount for an individual. But there are many other versions, check them out.
The quad A1 is a also full-fledged torque controlled robot dog. It can trot at 2.5 m/s, and both its hardware and software are open source and documented. Several other robot dog projects have spun from it, for instance this one or this one.
