A re-image would of course destroy everything and replace my system with a new, empty system. In fact this might not be a bad thing, as I've accumulated all manner of junk over the years; things I've tried out and discarded. (I used to run wordpress.org, for example, until maintaining a reasonable level of security was getting troublesome.)
