So far it's worked. This process helped get buy in, but it also did something else that, in working in isolation, I hadn't noticed: it made Corinna better. We have well-defined object construction pseudo-code, virtually all attributes for fields are composable, making it hard to write an illegal (and thus confusing) field, we've managed to reject certain problematic constructs, such as :handles(*), and so on.
