I rooted my phone with magisk(Github), and used Afwall+(github), which is open source. Xprivacylua(github) is also open source, and needs the xposed framework to work. I use edxposed(github), which is pretty much a modern reimplementation of the legacy xposed framework.
No experience with it but it has a refreshing privacy policy, is open-source, and on F-Droid. Looks like a solid option.
It also appears they rely on 3rd-party analytics to "enable the Owner to monitor and analyze web traffic and can be used to keep track of User behavior" and their code was open-source in the past but not anymore?
