    • Why? The chance of success on step dice is based on the ratio of the die size to the target number or opposing step die. This calls for a geometrically increasing progression of dice sizes. Here's the logarithmic spacing compared to perfect decibels. The spacing isn't perfect---since we only have integer die sizes to work with at best---but IMO it's not that far off.
