  • vim-qml

    QML syntax highlighting for VIM

  • More color syntaxes such as GLSL or QML

  • vim-surround

    surround.vim: Delete/change/add parentheses/quotes/XML-tags/much more with ease

  • surrounding

  • kakoune

mawww's experiment for a better code editor

  • vertical alignment helpers (see the demo on kakoune front page)

  • neovim

Vim-fork focused on extensibility and usability

  • A long-term goal is to have multicursor support in Neovim. Might address that use case

  • vim-sandwich

Set of operators and textobjects to search/select/edit sandwiched texts.

  • The problem with shipping some of those plugins as built-in is that not everyone is going to be happy with the defaults, and in consequence are going to end up adding another plugin on top anyway. For example, I genuinely believe that vim-sandwich is a much better surrounding plugin that the one from tpope, so people that use vim-sandwich are going to be pissed if a plugin following the vim-surround keybindings gets added by default, and vice versa.
