Current state of the situation: SDG has stopped developing the UDP tileset, at least for now. He also deleted the Discord server that he had created to organize his work on the project. From the readme file on the tileset repo on Github, in addition to a history of transphobic statements elsewhere, his reasons for doing this seem to be very clear. Before making any misinformed comments on the change, you should also read the actual conversation surrounding the PR first to ensure you are not making any stupid statements.
https://github.com/I-am-Erk/CDDA-Tilesets/releases here's the latest release of all other maintained tilesets ( all already in the game if you're playing experimental) MshockXotto is build on the same base than undeadpeople, or Chibi Ultica which uses monster and character from MSx but Ultica for the rest. Thos are the two "chibi" tilesets but do checkout the others.

This is not the first time he has left and returned, so there is a chance he can come back, but for now if you just want the tileset disconnected from SDG you can find a backup of it here.
