I am using nvim-bufferline.lua as my top bar to get a visual of the open files. Lets say I have 5 buffers open with one file in each buffer. I am on buffer number 2 and I want to go buffer 4.
You could try cokeline.nvim, a new bufferline plugin I'm developing. With that you could simply map Alt+4 to (cokeline-focus-4). If you do try it let me know if you like it ;)
ap/vim-buftabline can display the buffer number which you can use in :bN commands, no idea if it works in neovim. But I most often use tab completion in a :b command.
