Originally I setup an AWS Lightsail instance running code-server, which actually worked pretty well, although it was a pain managing the server/containers (upgrading code-server was a real hassle). I used to use CodeSandbox for front-end development, too, but found that it was difficult having that workflow mesh with some of the stuff I do.
