MicroG is a bit of a pain to install. The easiest way imo is to use a package like NanoDroid, you can also build a settings/overlay/apps file to fine tune your install with this. I think I read a while back that some other package was regarded better, but I can't remember what that's called.
Heh, just wait until you look into MicroG. Android has lots of things that phone home to Google regardless of custom ROMs - for example, every time your phone starts using GPS, it contacts a Google A-GPS server for satellite trajectories, and while doing this it provides Google with a) the satellites you're looking at, b) your IP address and some routing info and c) your IMEI - this last one is particularly unnecessary for the function.
