How could I run public (web)servers from my home network without risking security?

  • What I do (and recommend) is use Cloudflare as both my nameserver and proxy so my home network's IP is never exposed to the greater internet. I also run a small DDNS container that updates the Cloudflare A record IP address so I don't have to worry about getting a static IP or manually changing DNS records if my assigned IP happens to change. All this in addition to having home servers on a separate VLAN and firewalled as others have recommended.
