Best way of showing the number of search matches in a statusline?

What's the fastest way of showing the number of matches when a vim search (via /) is done? Here are the methods I'm aware of: - Plugin (vim-anzu) (with vim-airline) - set shortmess-=S which unfortunately has a limit on max number of matches (99)
