I don't have strong knowledge of clap, so I won't comment there, but with respect to telescope I described a lot of the motivations in the first post. They are primarily performance and what I consider to be a better architecture with respect to performance. Snap performs well with grepping (see demo videos for example), whereas Telescope's grep performance is unusable in large repos (see original post). All the features/improvements planned to be added to Telescope here are already addressed in snap.
