WireGuard will be less resource intensive and give you closer to line speeds on HP T620 level hardware, use the WireGuard kernel-mod package from /u/vbman213 which was just released with pfSense plus latest and will be in the upcoming pfSense CE 2.5.2, but can be sideloaded into 2.5.1. That should be able to handle close to 1g with pfblocker. CPU intensive Packet IDS like suricata/snort would knock this level hardware back a good bit though.

Since pfsense doesn't support wireguard any more, I want a VM to just serve as a router for wireguard / anonymous VPN traffic. Then have pfsense route a subnet of traffic through the wireguard router. What's the best software to do this?
