    The Markdown-based note-taking app that doesn't suck.

  • I also tried https://notable.app/ , but it kept failing when I tried to import my EN stuff. It felt like simplenote: all you get is a pile of markdown notes with tags, but images and attachments are supported.

  • Joplin

Joplin - the secure note taking and to-do app with synchronisation capabilities for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.

  • https://joplinapp.org/ (what I'm using now, and have used the most of all of these) import enex file one at a time feels decently snappy: slower than old EN, faster than new EN markdown based: "write" mode and "view" mode (but there is a wysiwig editor) cannot open multiple windows... ...but does have tabs via plugins ...and can write markdown in external editor (my preferred editor is vi, so this works out) no built-in way to mark something as a favorite, pin to top , etc (but I'm faking it with some plugins and naming scheme) lots of internal keyboard shortcuts, I think they can all be reassigned. feels very DIY not a service per se -- notes are shared via provider such as dropbox, onedrive, etc. there is a CLI version, but only on linux (or WSL on windows) ... but the app includes a webservice server, so my enscript scripts can be recreated and improved
