Anyone have a method to monitor if a port or 2 stop responding on a server at all?

  • Prometheus paired with Blackbox exporter is the fastest way to do this. Alertmanager is bundled with Prometheus for pushing alert messages. Incredibly easy to setup, the worst part is yaml.

  • Zabbix

    Real-time monitoring of IT components and services, such as networks, servers, VMs, applications and the cloud.

  • Sounds like you need a monitoring system. I'd suggest PRTG if you can afford it, Zabbix if you can't. If you're only looking to monitor a couple ports, the free version of PRTG would work.
