  • dcs_on_linux

Instructions for running DCS World on linux. Mostly extracted from https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1722

  • After some admirable efforts from ED's support team given the unsupported environment they basically left it at "you might try downgrading to 2.5.6, but after that you're on your own". I don't seem to be able to rollback in Steam so I decided to try standalone DCS in the hopes that things would work better there. I can install it fine and rollback to 2.5.6 without problem (or any version I choose as far as I can tell), but although I can launch the game and apparently pass login successfully, the game launches as a black screen and never gets past that point. I have created the webrtc_plugin.dll symlink as detailed here, and am additionally following the WINEDLLOVERRIDES and the winetricks verbs from that page, plus those from the lutris script, plus those from the DCS website - none of those things seem to have helped.
