In the Neovim text editor, there is this awesome plugin called whichkey. Basically, for keychords if you press the "leader key", a menu will pop up after a delay showing and listing the following key possibilities and their actions. The delay is configurable depending on how long you'd like it to take to pop up, and if you already know the whole keychord and type it fast enough, it doesn't pop up at all. It's awesome and I'd love the same behavior for the desktop environment.
