kickstart is a great place to start, but neovim really is something where you get out of it exactly what you put in. If you use a pre-rolled config, you will get functionality right away, but of course will likely take longer to understand what's going on. Building your own config (especially for modern IDE-like development), takes time and effort but gives you a really strong understanding of how neovim/the lua ecosystem works. I've built my own config by looking at other people's configs and pre-rolled repos and piecing together my own, and I'll admit I've spent quite some time on it, but I enjoyed every minute of it because I just do. Maybe that's not true for everyone and that's why the pre-rolled configs are great too.
If you want to have a look at my config for neovim, it's here: https://github.com/ahollister/neovim-config

I think NvChad is a good option to get started with Vim / NeoVIM. You start with a complete IDE, with some plugins, and helpful features that can help you to catch the roll easily. After that, you can install custom plugins and personalize it far as you want. LunarVIM is another great solution.
