Hey! Danila is here. When using our protocol, all the data is stored on-chain, we don't have any centralized servers where we store anything. We are open source, so you don't need to believe me - you can easily audit our protocol code: https://github.com/ylide-io/sdk - we don't collect any data at all. All messages are private and end-to-end encrypted between users. Neither we nor anyone except the recipient can read these messages. But we support public messages on the protocol level: their functionality is similar to the telegram channels logic, and messages there are not encrypted.
