I think the easiest way to do this build is by using this corne ultralight pcb. If you can use this PCB it will make your life much easier, it already has native support for nice!view and power switch and you won't need any wires.
I use it in a layer with the vim keys(hjkl), but you could use on wasd or ijkl. The numbers are in the same layer as navigation, but I use q row as numbers... I activate this layer with the thumb. This is my current keymap on ZMK.
