There’s some info on www.gov.uk under Council Housing. It’s probably in your tenancy agreement or your councils policy document and they’ll tell you if work is mandatory or optional. You really need to speak to your council’s housing department, or residents association if there is one, to see if you can opt out. You should also speak to Shelter or Citizens Advice if you don’t agree to certain works being done.
