You can use Yubikey for Steam no problem, both in the desktop and mobile Yubioath apps. You just need to extract the TOTP code from the android app and import it into Yubikey.

Steam's login method is kinda interesting
FWIW, the app uses a variant of TOTP. Some TOTP apps (including one for Yubikeys[0]) support generating them if asked to.

Life does have a sense of humor though: I've been working on an Oath for all scientists for 2 weeks now. I didn't plan on revealing it until it was finalized, but it looks like it might actually be interesting. It's not done yet, but feel free to have a look around.
